About Us
Who we are?
Since 1986, Bald Eagle Grotto has been caving, exploring, and digging in the karst valleys of Central Pennsylvania and beyond. The grotto was formed when 5 cavers met outside a small cave by chance and decided to join with the NSS to form their own grotto. Based primarily in Williamsport, PA, we have grown steadily and currently have over 50 members in 4 states. In addition, we are the key-holder of Alexander Caverns, one of the most beautiful caves in Pennsylvania. The rowboat trip through the water section of Alexander is an a breathtaking and memorable event. The cave also contains one of the largest stalagmites in the East (over 30 ft. tall and 25 ft. around) as well as some pure white rimstone and crystal pools. To schedule a trip to this cave, please contact us.
What we do...
We are a non-profit educational organization whose members share a common interest in caves and caving. Our primary goals are to provide a means for local cavers to meet and go caving and to educate people in the sport of caving in a positive, conservation-minded manner. We welcome the opportunity to provide information on caves and caving to educational groups, and will try to accommodate requests to go caving with us.
